From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
